Images on this page are of individual levels or layers of the large cube, showing the arrangement of the small coloured cubes there.

The assignment of colour to each small cube depends on its position in the large cube. For example, on the first row of the first level, the colours are selected in single steps around the colour wheel. On the second row the selection is in steps of two, the third in steps of three, and so on. The second level follows the same method of colour selection except the step sizes around the wheel are doubled. For the third level they are tripled, for the fourth quadrupled, and so on.

In order to accentuate the patterns of the coloured levels, alternate images have had a colour filter process applied.
